He is active in the many civic and business affairs of the town and county, as he has been President of the Richlands Jaycees, Richlands Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Onslow County Economic Development Board. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for N.C. Grange Mutual, one of Richlands Insurance & Realty's outstanding companies.

Jeanette F. Ervin
Jeannette F. Ervin was born and reared on a farm near Richlands. Upon graduation from Richlands High School, she worked one year with Carolina Telephone and Telegraph, five years at First Citizens Bank and 14 years with the U.S. Postal Service. In addition, she is our bookkeeper, maintains her Property and Casualty license and her Real Estate Brokers license. Jeannette is Byron's wife.

Iris H. Horne
Iris H. Horne was born and reared on a farm in the Back Swamp Community in Duplin County. After graduating from East Duplin High School, she completed business courses at Hardbarger Business College in Raleigh, then worked for IBM at the Research Triangle Park.

Since Joining Richlands Insurance & Realty in 1976, she has continued her insurance education through the Institute of Insurance at UNC - Chapel Hill, obtaining her Property and Casualty license. Through further study, Iris obtained her CPIW designation in 1983. Iris is an active member of the Onslow and N.C. Association of Insurance Women. Iris is married to Wade Horne who is an Onslow County Magistrate and paving contractor and they have one son, Geoffrey.

Alwood Byron Ervin, III.
Alwwod Byron Ervin, III. better known as "Al", was born and reared in Richlands, growing up on the farm helping tend tobacco, corn and soybeans. After graduating from Richlands High School, he attended Louisburg College for two years. The next 6 years were spent in the automobile business.

Al has completed courses at the Institute of Insurance at UNC - Chapel Hill, obtaining his Property/Casualty and Life license. He has 1 daughter named Kennedy, is a member of the Richlands Rotary Club and loves to play golf!

Steven R. Ervin
Steven R. Ervin was born and reared in Richlands, growing up on the farm helping with a swine production operation. After graduating from Richlands High School he attended UNC - Wilmington, graduating with a BS Degree in Business Management. Since then Steven has completed courses at the Institute of Insurance at UNC - Chapel Hill, obtaining his Property/Casualty and Life license. His wife Julie graduated from East Carolina University and is a teacher at Richlands Elementary. They have two children, Stevie and Kate.

In 1996 Steven obtained his Real Estate license, and in 1998 obtained his N.C. General Contractors license and is a custom home builder.
