Our beginning

Richlands Insurance Agency was originally organized in 1950 by two brothers, A.B. Ervin, Sr. and W.C. Ervin.

The original name was Ervin Brothers Insurance Agency but later changed to Richlands Insurance Agency when Mrs. Margaret B. Lockamy joined the firm.

Upon the death of A.B. Ervin Sr., his son, Byron, joined the firm in June 1963 and helped build it to its present status.

Originally, the agency was built around the property and casualty business. Realizing that their many customers needed life insurance, this valuable coverage was added in 1965.

To complete their desire to be a full service Agency, real estate was added in 1966, thus the agency is Richlands Insurance & Realty.

The success of Richlands Insurance & Realty was added to greatly by the additions of Mrs. Margaret Lockamy and Mrs. Nannie Ruth Jones.

Mrs. Margaret Lockamy was a partner with A.B. Ervin Sr. until his death in 1963, then with Byron until her retirement in 1973.

Mrs. Nannie Ruth Jones was a secretary for the Agency from 1955 until her retirement in 1976. Both ladies are loved and respected by us, our customers and company personnel.
